I think the poster refers to classics, so I will nominate Austin and Scott.
One of my reading goals is to read all the books by Jane Austen. I have only read Pride and Prejudice, and that was relatively recently. I have started, and was enjoying, Mansfield Park. However, I usually only have time to read on public transport and the stretches weren't long enough to enjoy the clever dialogue so I stopped in frustration.
I have The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F. Scott Fitzgerald on my iphone to start next time I am stuck somewhere "without" a book.
And you?

ironically, this is my year to catch up on those books... I started a list of ones too look out for and put it on my blog http://obsidiantears83.blogspot.com/2009/01/bookmooch-updated-reading-list-and.html
Basically, the ones i have to read are the Nibelungenlied, the Volsung Saga, Middlemarch, The Picture of Dorian Gray. I've bought Dorian Gray and Middlemarch, but not had a chance to read them yet. I am still looking for cheap copies of the Nibelungenlied and Volsung. I read a lot!! but i tend to read in my genres... so i dicided this was the year for the classics, for those i had heard of and wanted to experience myself.. I've bought 4 off that list but when i have my favourite paperbacks on hand (which includes all my Austens LOL i suggest you try Persuasions next, not Mansfield Park) I tend to put them off.. I really need to break that habit.. i was reading nearly 9 books a week (im keeping a list, thats how the numbers went.. last year was 5 books a week - i think its because my insomnia got worse LOL)but if i got stuck into my classics I might slow it down a little.. and expand my mind ;D
Good luck finding time to dedicate to Austen!! its worth it, I swear!! I have the same trouble with the trains - its why I put down Piers Plowman and Chaucer.. a 15 minute train ride just doesnt do them justice!
Hmmm ... what have I always meant to read? Other than everything within reach?
I'd like to finish reading all of Dostoyevsky's works. I've read several, but I don't think I have them all in hand yet. I'll have to work on that.
Thanks for the comments.
Obsidiantears83: That is a fantastic list. Yes, a few people have suggested I try Mansfield Park last, but I was loving it. My communte is 45 minutes (both ways) so not too bad for reading, although I am envious you have time for >5 per week.
