Lately I have seen some interesting displays of books. I have posted previously about arranging books by colour, but since then I have seen books placed spine outwards, cover forwards and with white or opaque covers to make them uniform. While looking at the images online I found there was lots of debate involved! But, I know Booktagger readers are all booklovers, so there should be no doubt as to whether how you display your books reflects on whether you read them.

LOL I don't see the point in having the spines facing inwards - how can you tell which book is which? I believe in displaying my books, but my books are also functional - and so you need to actually be able to browse through them to find which you are after. Maybe those shelves were arranged purely for design reasons and not by a biblophile :)
Those particular books were used for design. The owners had some books they didn't want to give up, but wouldn't reread. I love the comment his mother gives...
The person who placed them wrote the following (taken from the site where I found the photos):
"Hi,
This is Randy Powers.
The reason I turned the books with the spines in is I wanted to create a sculpture effect for the painting displayed. The book cases have lights running down the sides and at night they provided an elegant glow that my mother finds comfoting when she reads in bed.
The books that were "sacrificed" are ones that my parents do not wish to read or reread. A choice that was made by them.
What you can not see is there is a library FILLED with books that have been read and many that still are "in line" to be read. I have enjoyed reading these posts and offer a tip...
Your home is an incredibly personal space, it should reflect YOUR tastes and desires. My mother is wonderfuly eccentric and GREATLY enjoyes the poetry of the books not have the titles showing, in her intimate space a "repreave from the amount of text we are all thrown at each and every day" she says..."
